"The sound management of natural resources requires accessing the best
information possible to make educated decisions. Conducting research to gain
the tools necessary for decision making processes is extremely fulfilling."
Responsibilities: Shadia collaborates with the CFS team to
collect, analyze and report fisheries data. That data is processed and
communicated to current and prospective funding agencies through reports,
presentations, and publications.
Background: Since her first camping trip as a kid, Shadia
has been fascinated by life cycles and their interactions. She has lived
and worked in South, Central and North America in natural resource management
for private, non-profit and governmental organizations, adding her global
perspective to the CFS team.
Shadia holds a Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Management from Zamorano
University in Honduras, and two Master degrees in Forestry and Environmental
Sciences from Louisiana State University.
Personal: "I am a devoted world traveler that enjoys
learning about nature and different cultures. For 13 years I have lived
in different countries while studying, volunteering, and working. Then I
found the amazing Pacific Northwest. Its scenic beauty and strong community
made me anchor my life here. I love spending as much time as possible in
the outdoors hiking, camping, and taking pictures. In my vacations I enjoy
working pro bono for people in extreme poverty in developing countries like
Haiti or going to remote places like the Amazon rainforest." |
