Randy Ericksen gives Cramer Fish Sciences clients a combination of fisheries
management and research experience coupled with a strong commitment to
continuous learning.
Projects/Services: Randy brings to the CFS team over 25 years of excellence in biological
modeling, biological assessment, and fisheries research based on his career
at Alaska Department of Fish and Game where he managed fisheries and
conducted research on salmon, steelhead, trout, grayling, and char.
Background: Randy designed and completed many studies,
including full stock assessments to estimate juvenile production, survival,
harvest, fishery exploitation, spawning distribution, escapement, and total
adult returns. His stock assessment analyses led to the adoption of the
first biological escapement goals for Chilkat River Chinook and coho
salmon stocks in Alaska. His innovative analyses also earned him the
Alaska Department of Fish and Game Director's Achievement Award for
Fisheries Research.
As a fisheries manager, Randy worked with
a wide range of federal and state agencies, stakeholders, industry
representatives, and the public, and served on interdisciplinary review
teams evaluate and mitigate the potential effects on fish and fish habitat
of proposed projects.
In keeping with Cramer Fish Sciences emphasis
on continued learning, he earned a mid-career Master's degree in Fisheries
Science in 1997 from the University of Alaska, and held a research assistantship
with Alaska Cooperative Fishery Research Unit. He has authored or coauthored
several scientific journal articles and over 40 peer-reviewed published reports,
and has peer-reviewed numerous journal articles and published reports.
Personal: "My hobbies include spending time with my family,
travel, hiking, fishing, playing guitar, and scuba diving. I really enjoy spending
time underwater and have done so in a wide range of locations from Alaska to
Indonesia. Diving opens up a whole new world to explore."
He says the best of all worlds is when he can
combine his passions. "Some of my best memories are sharing adventures
with my family in Costa Rica and the Yukon Territories." |
