Cameron Turner's focus on continuing education and professional development,
his data analysis and field research skills, and his commitment to clear
communication — face-to-face or on paper — make him a natural
fit for the Cramer Fish Sciences Team.
Responsibilities: Cameron is a fisheries biologist that
brings research and communications abilities to Cramer Fish Sciences.
In particular, he has extraordinary experience bringing people in
various fields, organizations, businesses, and nations to mutual understanding
in order to get work done.
Projects/Services: Turner, who speaks English, Portuguese, and
Spanish, has a gift for bringing people to mutual understanding. He has worked
with diverse groups from both public and private agencies to coordinate
international research projects. His previous employment in property management and residential
construction also helps him communicate effectively with land developers and
project proponents.
Background: Turner holds a bachelors degree from Brigham Young
University (BYU) and a Masters degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from
Indiana University. Aquatic biology of the Amazon River has been his research
focus since 2003.
While at Indiana University, he researched electric
fish in the Brazilian and Peruvian Amazon. While at BYU, he worked on techniques
for paternity analysis and reproductive biology of Amazon River turtles both in
the lab and in Brazil. Those methods are relevant to genetic approaches used in
salmonid fisheries research. During that time, he also developed or taught courses
in proposal writing and scientific writing for students at both universities.

Personal: Many of Cameron's pursuits combine friends and family
with the amazing terrain of the West. "Most of the time we're either wet
(fishing and whitewater rafting), dirty (mountain biking and backpacking), or
cold (skiing and mountain climbing)."
"Fortunately, I also enjoy spending time with my
church, reading, and drawing so I get a chance to recover from our outdoor
adventures." |
