Excellence, consistency, contributions, and life-long learning describe
David Widmark, General Manager / Public Relations for Cramer Fish Sciences.
Background: David is known for consistency and
credibility, and for spearheading regional and national improvement
efforts, including a "best practices" communications programs and
training implemented by the Forest Service across the United States.
David has varied experience in engineering,
corporate public relations, internal communications, and professional
development. For some years, he also played a high profile role as a
primary spokesperson giving over 1,500 local, national, and international
media interviews a year on behalf of multiple natural resource agencies
during fire seasons. Throughout his 37-year career with the Forest Service
he was honored for superior work, and received a national award from the
Chief of the Forest Service for internal communications.
He has also been active in local city government
at Gresham City Hall since 1988, serving on numerous committees, chairing the
city's planning commission, serving on the City Council three times, and in other
roles. He continues to volunteer on
several city committees.
David's education includes studies at Oregon Institute of Technology; intensive
military public relations schooling for certification at the civilian Department
of Defense Public Affairs Officer School, and various supervisory, management and
communication instruction through professional societies and university continuing
education programs.
Personal:
"My hobbies and interests include
traveling, both in the United States and abroad, RV'ing, mountain-biking, gardening,
wood working and touring the back roads of the Northwest in my Sky roadster with
my wife. These and other exhilarating activities help relieve the stresses of everyday
living."
Another aspect of David's life is being
a civic volunteer. A resident of Gresham, Oregon for over 35 years, "I
firmly believe in making my community a better place to live." Widmark does
this by serving as a volunteer on several City of Gresham committees.
